What the set is
Hyper Sticker Collection 1 is Amada’s first Pokémon sticker set. It uses Ken Sugimori’s art from the Red and Green games and was in shops before the trading card game. Amada printed the whole set twice, and collectors call these the first and second print.
How to tell 1st and 2nd print apart
- Feel the backing. The 1st print is slick, almost like plastic. The 2nd print is matte and papery. This is the test to trust.
- Look at the back. The 1st print is a faint yellow. The 2nd print is whiter.
- Check the holo. On prism stickers the 1st print shows fine sun-ray streaks. The 2nd print is clean.
- Compare the red ink. It is softer on the 1st print and sharper on the 2nd.
Streaks and ink can look different under different light, so check the feel first.
The copyright line does not help
It is identical on both runs: the same 1995 Nintendo, Creatures and GAME FREAK credit, the same 1996 MADE IN JAPAN beneath it, the same plate.
The yellow back is not a sign of age either. It is the paper stock Amada loaded, so a yellow back means a 1st print, not an old sticker.
