Jungle arrived in June 1999 as the first true expansion to Base Set, adding 64 cards drawn from Generation 1 Pokemon that Base had skipped. Distribution was through 11-card booster packs and two themed preconstructed decks.
A small portion of the 1st Edition print run shipped with no expansion symbol in the lower-right of the artwork box. These "no-symbol" Jungle cards are the most-collected printing error in WOTC-era Pokemon, with each of the 64 cards in the set existing in both a stamped and unstamped form. Unstamped pulls demand a meaningful premium.
Sixteen holos again, this time featuring Clefable, Electrode, Flareon, Jolteon, Kangaskhan, Mr. Mime, Nidoqueen, Pidgeot, Pinsir, Scyther, Snorlax, Vaporeon, Venomoth, Vileplume, Wigglytuff, and the chase card of the set — holo Jolteon and Flareon in particular.
Jolteon and Flareon hold particularly strong vintage demand for their League-promo cross-collector appeal — the holo Eevee line is a multi-set chase across Base/Jungle/Fossil and continues to drive prices on Jungle sealed product.
