Compared against the published Kanto checklist at all 45 kana positions, it agrees at one, へ. り is Dragonite here and Doduo there; わ is Meowth here and Growlithe there. It also spends four positions on people and Team Rocket, and the published Kanto checklist has no human cards at all.
Pokémon Karuta Kanto, New Year cover
A Showa Note Kanto-era printing this archive did not publish, reconstructed complete from one opened set. Every reading card prints its species in katakana inside the verse, so each card states its own identity. The box front carries a New Year scene, Charizard and Snorlax around a kotatsu with a kagami-mochi and kadomatsu, over the games みんなであそぼう / かるた / カードあわせ / もぐらゲーム.
Each reading card prints the species name in katakana as furigana inside its verse, so the card itself prints its own identity. That is the standard this archive requires. 44 of the 45 rest on their own reading card.
No box side was photographed, so the item code and JAN are unknown and which of the up to five 668156 printings this is remains unresolved. It is not the one published on the original Kanto page. The ま reading card was absent from the set, so that one position rests on its picture card alone and says so on its row.
