GB Pocket Card - GBP Card Collection 2

The Johto-era second GBP collection. The Kyodo retail display band photographed for this set prints 49 card types, and a typed transcription of that same band reads the same figure, so the 49 rests on two independent readings of one manufacturer document. That document is the printed band a capsule machine shows at the point of sale rather than a leaflet packed with the cards, and the same band, in the same slot order and the same bullet grammar, is now read on four other products in this family. Thirty two designs are now identified, and 30 of them carry a printed card number read off the card back. This product and the first GBP Card Collection print an identical card front, so the back is the only face that separates them. A Collection 2 back is red and a first collection back is blue-purple, and the printed number sits on the back as well. Fifteen of those numbers were read off one flat spread that photographs nineteen red backs together, and every one of them was read again on an independent second pass of the same photograph. Two rows still carry no number, and the numbers their evolutionary line partners suggest are not written onto them, because a line partner is Pokedex order and not a read. The remaining 17 printed types stay unlisted until each number is read. The search for the rest has now been taken as far as the sold archive allows. Sellers name this product by the line printed on its box rather than by the title this archive uses, and that name returns eighteen lots across the whole archive. Seventeen of the eighteen have been read to the end of their photographs, and only two of them carry a red Collection 2 back at all. Full width, half width and spaced forms of that name return the same eighteen lots, so those forms are one pool and not four, and a broader term that should have caught any stray lot caught nothing new. What is still unread is not scattered either. The open numbers sit in two runs, 219 through 227 and 236 through 239, which is not the shape random loss leaves. No fold out leaflet for this product has ever been photographed open and in focus, and one photographed close up would settle the whole set in a single frame, so that document is what this archive is waiting on rather than another mixed lot.

Every numbered row here is read off a red GBP Collection 2 back that carries the printed number and the name together. Card numbers and finishes are not invented where the source does not show them. The number 248 is read off a red back and sits on the row this set carries for Tyranitar. That question is now half settled. An ordinary matte red back printing 248 for the same species has since been photographed and read against its own printed height and weight, so a regular at that number exists. Whether a prism also carries 248 is still unanswered, because no prism back in this set has been photographed at all. Every prism sighting so far shows only the face, which carries no number band.
