How to Identify a Japanese Pokémon Sticker
Compare both sides, printed details and packaging before choosing a checklist slot.
- Start with
- the back of the sticker
- Then check
- maker, product name, number and artwork
- Also compare
- finish and surviving packaging
- If uncertain
- leave the identity unresolved and submit photographs
Step 1: read the back
- Maker and product text: record any printed name exactly. Copyright text alone does not identify a maker, set or release date.
- Pokémon information or move stats: compare the whole back with photographed Amada and Ensky checklist examples, not just one symbol.
- Square markers: compare them with the Ensky AR checklists. A square pattern alone is not proof of the product line.
- Plain backing paper: keep it with the seal and compare both sides with the Deco Chara archive if the packaging suggests a bread seal.
Step 2: read the number
Record the printed number and any letter prefix exactly, including leading zeroes. Do not assume every Amada or Ensky line shares one continuous sequence. Compare the number within the matching product checklist, together with the artwork and back.
Step 3: check the finish
Compare foil patterns, texture and any change in the picture when tilted. These are useful clues, but shape or shine alone does not establish the maker, variant or print run. Take an angled photograph as well as a straight-on view when the finish matters.
Step 4: match it on the checklist
Choose a likely checklist from the printed maker or product name, then compare the number, picture, back and finish with clear photographs. If the evidence conflicts or a slot is unverified, do not rename or renumber it to force a match. Submit both sides for review.
Quick answers
How should I compare a possible Pokémon bread seal?
Compare both sides, artwork and any packaging with the Deco Chara archive. Copyright text alone is not enough to establish the wave.
Does a repeated number mean two stickers are the same?
No. Compare the product line, artwork, back and finish before choosing a checklist slot.
What should I do if the printed details do not match?
Leave the identity unresolved and submit clear photographs of both sides. Do not change a slot number without supporting evidence.
